CLIMATE CHANGE UNIT
LESSON 6: INTERRELATIONSHIPS
|
Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope you all stayed healthy and safe during your time away from school. We will be continuing our unit on climate change, specifically looking at interrelationships between policy, the environment, and humans in Canada.
Learning objectives: After this lesson, you will be able to:
|
1. First, I want you to think about the current issue (Covid-19) to help you connect with policies. With the Covid-19 outbreak before and during the break, what policies have governments (municipal, provincial, and federal) created to stop the spread of the virus? How did these policies impact the population politically, economically, environmentally, and/or socially (PEES)?
To help you, make sure you are writing your ideas down on paper or brainstorm the questions creating a mind map.
2. Now that you have somewhat of an idea of how policy impacts a population, let's switch over to policies about our environment and climate change. How has the government responded to climate change, and what polciies have been implemented? Choose ONE POLICY and create a mind map outlining how that policy impacted the population using PEES.
3. Watch the two videos below regarding the different perspectives of pipeline policies in Canada.
Pipeline video: https://youtu.be/CSKfqGc3EbE Differing opinions about the pipeline: The pipeline that's divided Western Canada
4. Submit a mindmap using the Mind Map App > https://www.mindmaps.app. Include a 250-word summary of how the pipeline and pipeline policies impact Canada using PEES. Please submit ONE FILE in PDF format to my email address listed on the Contact page, with the subject as "First Name Last Name_Block_Lesson #"
